Architecture with a
positive impact.

HA+PI Architects (2026) is a practice founded on the question: how can we make the world a better place?

The vision grew from seeing the potential, and need, to make real change through design, and the power of intervention across all scales to impact communities and build relationships.

As an emerging practice, we are still learning every day and continue to grow and evolve along with our work, but our values are strong. We strive to explore new ways to improve lives for all whilst having an actively positive impact on people and planet.

Across all scales, from a small pavilion to a new block of flats, there is no reason design cannot bring joy and HAPIness, creating spaces which are accessible for all and have lasting impact, inciting change at a larger scale.

We have three key motivators which drive our work, but are by no means linear: People, Planet and Place. Ensuring our designs are playful, diverse and inclusive is essential to the outcome as well as the process.

Our name embodies us literally and figuratively: HArvey + PIckering / HA+PI. Ultimately, we want to create inspiring spaces to bring a bit more HAPIness to everyday life.

02THE TEAM

Two people · One shared purpose

Meet the team.

Charley Harvey, co-founding director of HAPI Architects

Charley Harvey

Director

BA (Hons) MArch DipArch ARB RIBA

Charley is a co-founding director of HA+PI Architects and is passionate about truly sustainable, regenerative, community-led design. Taking inspiration from the natural world and organic forms, her work explores how we can find efficiencies in nature and reduce waste through cyclical design. She recently won a Creative Conscience Gold award for her thesis project ‘The Carbon Scales’, which explored community energy systems and integral, cyclical sustainable design principles.

Charley is a qualified architect and has worked on a range of large-scale projects across all RIBA stages, including Lord’s Cricket Ground (London, UK), České Budějovice sports arena (Czech Republic), Bakhmaro Mountain Resort (Georgia) and the Keating Channel pedestrian bridge (Toronto, Canada).

Beyond practice, Charley is a mentor with Women in Architecture, with the 2026 programme the second year she has been involved in. She believes it is essential to inspire the next generation to care and imagine more, and to design uplifting, sustainable spaces.

Thomas Pickering, co-founding director of HAPI Architects

Thomas Pickering

Director

BA (Hons) MArch DipArch ARB

Thomas is a qualified architect and co-founder of HA+PI Architects. He was driven to start the practice as a tool to explore sustainable and inclusive methods of both design and construction.

His own approach to architecture has often been driven by a recognition of a need for equality within our built environment. Through the exploration of the invisible barriers faced by any given population, the concept of truly inclusive design is always a key driver within his work.

With a broad portfolio, Thomas has worked across a range of projects of varying scales at all RIBA stages. This has included a range of new-build and listed heritage schemes, new build homes and commercial spaces, as well as current involvement in public infrastructure projects such as Dublin MetroLink and Old Oak Common Station.
